March 2020 was such an eventful month for the Metals & Gems (M&G) team. Yes, the beginning of the so-called community quarantine due to the coronavirus is one thing that surely changed a lot of things for us. But more than this, another big change had begun. M&G started a partnership with Master Peter Keep of Jewellery Training Solutions (JTS). We began our partnership with Mr. Keep when he came to Manila for the conclusion of Chad’s apprenticeship under him and became a globally recognized certified goldsmith. We also held a special 2 day workshop, working on two different projects a day with Peter called “Keepsakes with Keep”. As we spent more time with Peter, we realized how much we had the same eagerness for sharing the craft. We decided that this passion that we have is the key to the beginning of a great partnership in educating those who want to learn about our craft, and to spread the beauty and art of jewelry making.
We the M&G team are very excited to be an enabler of infinite possibilities in jewelry making, with our good friend and Master Jeweller Peter Keep. Our vision is to be the gateway for Filipinos to have better means of learning and making jewelry with the shared passion of building a community of crafters who would like to create beautiful pieces in their own homes.
We have many many things that we are excited to share! Soon, you will hear more from us about our plans for the coming months and how we, as a community can improve and help the jewelry making industry of our country.
